Jardee's

2607 N. Haskell Ave.  -  Phone TAylor 3-0730
. . . for Delicious Italian Style Dinners

Jardee's seems to have begun life in a brand new building in 1947. It was run by John, Joe and Joe D. Trizza, and Arthur R DaMommio. DaMommio was probably related to Frank DaMommio, another Dallas restaurateur of the same era who ran Pop's Spaghetti House and then DaMommio's Resataurant. Advertised specials at Jardee's included Spaghetti and Meatballs, and Chicken Ravioli with a bottle of Chablis. The restaurant lasted until at least 1969 at the same location.

2607 N. Haskell is now a parking lot for Cityplace.

  1. I believe that it was Joe D. Trizza not Tuzza

  2. I remember eating at Jardee's in the early 1950's. It was a real treat as my father was a student at SMU and my mother was a nurse at Baylor; money was tight.

My most outstanding memory is the red and white checkered table cloths and the jukebox. The popular song that comes to mind was Patti Page and "Tennessee Waltz".

    Oh, those were good days!

    1. To this day, and I was born in 1952, Tennessee Waltz is among my favorites, probably associated with the smell of Jardee’s, that sauce, and simmering garlic.

  3. My family owned this along with Arthur. The best meat sauce in town. No one has been able to recreate this amazing bolognese

    1. I have the original menu. My uncles John and Dee and Arthur owned the restaurant. I spent many years running around the restaurant and hiding. Good food. Best bolognese ever.

    2. Best Italian food in Dallas. We ate there all the time and had dinner there on the last night they served on New Year’s Eve 1975. Took pictures inside and in front of the restaurant sign to always remember. Happy memories. Would give anything for that sauce recipe.
